I've never seen two books love each other more.
After a slight delay in the printing process, I'm happy to announce that a hard-copy version of Dragoon is now available on Amazon.com! Digital is ultra convenient, but there's something really comforting about holding a volume in your hand and flipping through its pages. Haven, scoot over. Dragoon is here to join you on the bookshelf. :) Click here to order your print copy from Amazon! No respect. On Amazon, the print edition of Dragoon is linked to the Kindle edition, so that's one way to find it. After the initial release of a print book to Amazon, it can take up to a week before the title fully links between both pages and/or appears in search results. It'll all click into place within a few business days. Until then, just follow the green links like this one! Let it be known that a friend of mine took the kitten-tossing jokes from this site seriously and tossed an abandoned dwarf manx kitten at me (as though I needed any more!). I put Dragoon down for one minute (not joking) and he sprinted over to stand on it (as shown on the right) for much longer than necessary. See what happens when kittens are tossed? They stand on brand new books! Shameless, I tell you! All yours, ~A.R. Ivanovich

What I'm up to... Right now, I'm solidifying the outline of book three. Every writer has a system that works for them and not every style works for every person. That being said, I write in terms of anatomy. The outline of the book is the skeletal structure. Imagine constructing a human and forgetting to put bones in one leg... not only would the result be creepy and disgusting, but your person would be off-balance and may very well fall to the ground. It's not all that different with constructing stories. If you're not careful, you can wind up with an imbalanced plot that leaves part of the story as noodly as a boneless limb. Here's my break-down: Outline - Skeletal Structure - Holds everything in place. Manuscript Drafts - Meat and Muscle - Fleshes out the story and brings characters/places/scenes to action. Editing/Polishing - Skin - Smooths everything over. Cuts the excess, tightens certain areas and beautifies others. If this sounds like a macabre parallel, it's not my intention. I look at it from an artist's perspective. If you ever really get into figure drawing, it's only a matter of time before someone stuffs your arms full of books and shoves you toward an anatomy class. As of August 1st, I'll be hitting the meat and muscle phase, and manuscript writing will commence! Very excited. Flossin' I'd meant to release this blog yesterday, but I couldn't, because of this: Despite all the warnings, the tropical storm really wasn't a bad one. It was a cocktail of humidity and fine mist, topped with a single serving of heavy rain. No, the little river beside my house did not sweep me off to Tahiti. It didn't even surge. We lost power when the wind hit, but I live in the jungle, weather knocks out our power a couple times every month. The whole thing only lasted an hour or two. The real star of the show was the thunder and lightning. It was non-stop for at least an hour, and the purple flashes were bright, even in the daylight. Our floorboards shook from the rumbling, and one whip-crack of lightning that was centered right above us made me jump out of my skin and giggle like a nervous maniac, in that order. Nothing like a rich display of the elements to make you feel tiny, frail and very mortal. Kat would have been right in her element. ;) Not terribly far away, this video was taken, and sums up the highlights of the storm (there's a pun in there!): Elsewhere on the island, a bolt of lightning struck through someone's bathroom, tearing apart pieces of the ceiling. Whew! What a ride! I hope you all had a good start-of-the-week.
All yours, ~A.R. Ivanovich
Book Release Notification List As many of you know, I used to have a sequel release list here on the site. It worked out so nicely that I've decided to keep the system for future book releases. The notification form now lives on the right-hand side of the Contact page. If you were already on the list and you were notified of Dragoon's initial release, you're still in the system! No additional effort necessary on your part. :)
That about sums it up for now. Adios, peeps! Hope you're enjoying the summer... unless you're in the southern hemisphere. In that case, I hope it's a lovely winter!
All yours, A.R. Ivanovich In just one day, Dragoon has skyrocketed to become Amazon.com's #1 Best Selling book in the Steampunk Science Fiction genre! I'm so excited, I don't even have the words. Thank you, readers! You guys are the best! I'll have to check my schedule, but I'm fairly certain that now will be an excellent time for a happy-dance. If you haven't gotten it yet and you want in on the action, you can pick it up here.
All yours, A.R. Ivanovich

The Sale Dragoon will be on sale for $2.99 until July 1st, 2013. Big fans and early readers, take advantage of this and tell your friends! Who doesn't love a deal? The Print Release I expect the print release to occur sometime in July. As usual, I'll post updates here. The Website You may have noticed a few changes have been made to the site. Be sure to check out the latest issue of the Bird's Eye View! This is the faux newspaper on the Home page of arivanovich.com. It's meant to be a sort of fun, themed, in-and-out of character preview of my writings, and other goings ons. This one is themed for Dragoon. Previous issues can still be found at the bottom of the page.
Ranting and raving aside (I've given up on sleeping tonight), I really hope you guys enjoy the new installment (hah hah. Pun intended! Ugh. It's not even the first time I've made that joke.) of War of the Princes. I really had a great time writing it. And now, the show must go on! So, stop reading this and read the book! Shoo! Go! ;)
As always, All yours, A.R. Ivanovich Need I say more? No, probably not. But I will anyway! DRAGOON will be out in a matter of days, and a few new features will be coming up on the website, including original front-matter, banner theme, and (drum rolls) a War of the Princes world map! As shown above, DRAGOON will be available on Kindle, Monday, June 17th. A print version will be released within the next two weeks. As always, I'll continue posting updates here.
If you've signed up to be on the notification list, you'll be getting a single email the moment DRAGOON hits the digital shelves on Monday. Charge those Kindles and smartphones now, guys. ;) All yours, A.R. Ivanovich The Sequel Dragoon is book two in the War of the Princes series, and you've heard it here first. I was waiting to have the cover art finished before I released the title. Thought it'd be more fun that way. Below, you will see the final cover art, along with the back-of-the-book description. As I've said to some, I'm allergic to spoilers, so that's all you're getting out of me for now. Put your feline projectiles down please, the book is on its way! The Cover I know what many of you are thinking. "Why the heck is there an X over that Dragoon's face?!" I assure you it was no accident. I know it makes this a bit of an edgy cover, raising a lot of questions, but trust me, it's worth it. I could have gone with a cover that was simple, safe, meaningless... but I wanted to give my readers something better. Like Haven's cover, this one has a purpose that connects directly to the book. If I weren't independently published, I wouldn't have a choice as to which art a publisher and marketing team assigns me. But this is an "indie" series, and giving my books freedom of expression is what it's all about. I hope you like it. It was a lot of work for a writer who doesn't paint nearly often enough. :) The Release Dragoon will be released within the month of June, 2013. Almost there!
We're on the final stretch now, ladies and fellas! The Kindle version will be released first, with a paperback version hot on its heels. Keep your eyes here on the website for news and updates, and don't forget to find me on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter. I'm not a spammy sort.
All yours, A.R. Ivanovich I had so much fun doing the signed book giveaway last time, I thought I'd do another! Yay, free stuff! As stated during the last giveaway, here are the rules: If you'd like to have a chance to win, "Like" my Facebook page here. The drawing will be random, so everyone who likes my page has an equal chance of winning. I will announce the winner's name on Facebook on Monday, April 15th. If your name is mentioned, send me a message via FB, and include your preferred mailing address. If you already "Like" my page, then you have fabulous taste, and you're already in the game. That being said, allow me to be dramatic for a moment. Ahem. This summer, there's a storm building on the horizon... WAR OF THE PRINCES: BOOK TWO. All yours, A. R. Ivanovich I've added a link to Pinterest at the top of my page. It's true. In addition to Facebook, Twitter and Goodreads, I'm now officially a part of the Pinterest family. I've made it to the twenty-first century in high resolution! I owe a big thank you to Mariella C. for the suggestion. Since I'm new to Pinterest, I'd love to make some connections and meet those of you who have taken up residence there. If you haven't given the site a try yet, I highly recommend it. I've only been a member for a day or two, and I'm already having a great time. A Pinterest Bonus: I've created a board on Pinterest called Visualizing Haven. Check it out to see War of the Princes inspired themes, pictures, and personal commentary. There's even a photograph of a location you can look forward to seeing in WOTP book two! Oh yeah... and we're nearly there. The second installment of War of the Princes is swiftly on it's way. I'll share the title with you as soon as the cover art is done. There's so much to look forward to. Much more to come, very soon!
